  • Equipment/Diesel Technician

    Ameron Construction Company is seeking experienced shop mechanic who can inspect, diagnose, adjust, repair, and maintain heavy equipment and transportation vehicles including cars; light, medium and heavy trucks; paving and earthmoving equipment. Excellent benefit package including health, dental, life insurance, vacation, holiday and company sponsored pension plan.


    Essential Functions:

    * Demonstrate initiative in analyzing and solving problems.

    * Safely perform essential functions.

    * Proficiently troubleshoot, diagnose, repair, and rebuild all system failures on mobile equipment.

    * Communicate with co-workers and equipment operators.

    * Use welding and flame-cutting equipment to perform welding duties.

    * Maintain safe and organized work area.

    * Exercise proper care and maintenance of company equipment.

    * Regularly work 40-50 hours per week.


    Knowledge of:

    * Methods, materials, tools and equipment used in repairing and maintaining mobile equipment.

    * Basic computer skills.

    * Construction operations.


    Ability to:

    * Operate tools and equipment used to repair equipment.

    * Take and follow instructions.

    * Learn and follow Company policies.

    * Work under indirect supervision.


    Qualifications: 

    * Valid PA driver's license with acceptable driving record 

    * Prefer Class A or B CDL with acceptable driving record.

    * Must possess complete set of tools.

    * Must be proficient in troubleshooting techniques.

    * Must be proficient in hydraulic principles and systems.

    * Must be proficient in fundamentals of engines.

    * Must be proficient in power and drive train principles.

    * Must be proficient in machine electronics.

    * Must be proficient in cutting and welding processes.

    * Must be proficient in fuel systems.


    Education: 

    * High school graduate or equivalent.

    * Prefer completion of Heavy Equipment/Diesel Technology program from an accredited vocational or technical school.


    Experience: 

    * Prefer ten years of experience as a heavy equipment or truck technician.

    * PA Inspection license a plus.


    Physical Requirements

    * Ability to obtain and maintain a current Medical Examiner's Certificate as stated in 49 CFR 391.43(h)

    * Ability to work with fuel and other petroleum products.

    * Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.

    * Ability to climb on and off equipment safely.

    * Ability to work in shop or field environment with exposure to dust, welding fumes, exhaust fumes, noise, confined spaces and inclement weather conditions.

    * Ability to wear required personal protective equipment.

    * Ability to bend, kneel, or squat to reach repair areas.


  • Concrete Finisher

    Concrete Finisher Responsibilities:

    • Setting forms that hold the concrete in place.

    • Cleaning and inspecting surfaces for pouring issues.

    • Directing the casting of the concrete with the truck driver.

    • Pouring, smoothing, and leveling concrete using a rake, trowel, float, and screed. This includes handheld tools and power tool versions.

    • Monitoring the effects of the weather on the curing process.

    • Applying sealing and hardening components.

    • Safely operating power vibrator to ensure the concrete is consolidated.

    • Molding and constructing expansion joints using joiners and edging tools.

    • Polishing surface using a power surfacing machine.

    • Ability to read grade stakes and make calculations to set forms at proper grade and slope.


    Concrete Finisher Requirements:

    • High school diploma or Equivalent.

    • Minimum 2 years work experience as a concrete laborer or mason.

    • Ability to stand for long periods.

    • Ability to lift heavy materials and work long hours.

    • Ability to kneel for long periods.

    • Knowledge of hand-held and power tools including power vibrators, polishers, cutting saws, and edging tools.

    • Knowledge of GPS and Slip Form curb machines is not manditory, but is highly regarded




  • Concrete Laborer

    Concrete Laborer Responsibilities:

    • Setting forms that hold the concrete in place.

    • Cleaning and inspecting surfaces for pouring issues.

    • Knowledge of hand-held and power tools including power vibrators, polishers, cutting saws, and edging tools.



  • Truck Driver

    Truck Driver Position


    Responsibilities

    • The successful candidate for this role will ensure safety excellence in all that we do.
    • Report to the Operations Manager and Foreman
    • Understanding and ability to perform the following: 
    • Drive Class A,  B vehicles
    • Drive Triaxle dump truck
    • Understanding of construction production
    • Be punctual.

    Skills & Qualifications

    • 2-5 years CDL experience overall.
    • Strong work ethic to take direction and work independently with a desire to succeed.
    • Ability to work 40 – 50 hours a week including infrequent weekends as needed.
    • Skilled in running all types construction equipment is a plus.
    • Clean Driver History. Class A CDL.

  • Heavy Equipment Operator

    Heavy Equipment Operator

    Responsibilities

    • The successful candidate for this role will ensure safety and excellence in all that we do.
    • Report to the Operations Manager and Foreman

    Understanding and ability to perform the following:

    • Excavate for utility installation
    • Fine grade for black-top, concrete, etc.
    • Able to place stone/dirt efficiently
    • Check grade
    • Read/Off-set grade stakes
    • Understanding of compaction
    • Be punctual.
    • Operate I-Dozer, Excavator, Front end loader (Cat 963) and other equipment (with experience) for successful completion of job.

    Skills & Qualifications

    • 5-6 years experience overall experience in residential and commercial construction
    • Ability to fine grade preferred
    • Production oriented
    • Strong work ethic to take directions and work independently with a desire to succeed.
    • Ability to work 40 – 60 hours a week including weekends as needed.
    • Ability to read/interpret plans a plus.
    • Skilled in running all types construction equipment is a plus.
    • Valid driver license. Class A CDL is a plus.

  • Pipe Layer

  • Asphalt Paving Crew Member

    This includes Laborers, Operators (Roller, Screed, Paver, and other types of equipment). 


    The position will report to the supervisor and will be responsible for a variety of duties in and around job site of construction projects. Excellent attendance is crucial for the team to achieve success. The ideal candidate has a proven record of success in fast-paced environments. Must have the ability to work with and connect with cross-functional teams.


    Main Responsibilities


    Complete tasks as directed by supervisor in a timely manner

    Maintain and clean work areas

    Perform shoveling, raking, and demolition work as required

    Able to work and assist others to work in a safe manner within the guidelines of the company's policies

    Operate Paving Equipment and/ or Labor

    Observe distribution of paving material along Screed and control to eliminate voids at curbs and joints

    Keep Screed accurately adjusted and maintain material quality

    Setup Paver, Screed, and Rollers

    Match all paver joints and maintain consistency

    Perform several tasks involving strenuous manual labor on roads, highways, and residential and commercial construction projects; perform manual work in preparing surfaces for paving

    Assist in patching asphalt

    Ability to drive and operate equipment under varying working conditions

    Other duties may be assigned
